"Dream Catcher"

Chris Navarro Artist Statement

The sculpture shows the union of a dream catcher and a raven. It symbolizes protection, intelligence and the coexistence of other worlds. It expresses a balance between the intellectual and the spiritual realms of life.
Dream catchers are associated with Native American spirituality. They represent the interconnectedness of all living things and the importance of harmony with nature.
The raven, known for its wisdom and transformative qualities, perched on the dream catcher is a guide and messenger in our journey of selfdiscovery and enlightenment. The combination of the raven and the dream catcher would add cultural and symbolic depth and create a unique and meaningful narrative for the Village of Oak Creek and Sedona community.
The sculpture materials: The life-size raven is cast in bronze. The dream catcher would be made of steel and the 4' x 6' pedestal created of masonry and local flagstone rock. The rock would match the rock construction of the circle in the roundabout.

"The creation of monuments is extremely time consuming and labor intensive, creating a clay model, then casting it in bronze through the lost wax method. Sculpting is what I do for a living, but I do not ever plan on retiring. I have found something I really love to do and hope others can see that through the works I have created".

"I take pride in doing my best work and keeping my word. I have worked with numerous committees, foundations and schools in the past. I have a 100% completion rate in bringing all past projects in on time and budget. I have a dozen references to verify this information".

Bronze metal is a strong, durable and permanent medium that will last for centuries. All artists want to live on through their work. "Knowing my work will be standing in the sun long after I'm gone for future generations to experience and enjoy is extremely rewarding. That is why I give one hundred percent of my talent and ability to all my work". – Chris Navarro
